Restoring Sanity

31 Oct

I was at John Stewart’s Rally to Restore Sanity” yesterday in Washington, DC. I didn’t get to see or hear much since there were over 200,000 people in attendance and they were only set up for 60,000 people. But it was fun to be part of something so massive. The weather was beautifully sunny, the crowd was friendly and down-to-earth, and I saw some pretty funny and creative signs.

Spooky Soundtrack

27 Oct

I downloaded RA’s latest podcast by Alan Howarth last night.  It’s a spooky number. It was grey and spitting this morning when I walked to the tube station. It’s a funny thing listening to scary soundscapes without the visual content. This mix provided a blank audio canvas for my imagination to paint  horror scenes in my head. I was also thinking that it’d be the perfect accompaniment to Sarah’s Haunted Brunch.

More Eerie Edibles

26 Oct

After reading Audrey’s post “Creepy Cocktails and Other Goulish Delights” last week, I got inspired to throw a Haunted Brunch this coming Sunday, October 31st – Halloween Day. In addition to the recipes Miss Q suggested, I’m thinking about serving these 3 scary snacks as well (even though I don’t think anyone will touch the meat head with a 10-foot pole).

Scary Shower

Love this Cotton Ghost Bath Towel, available from Couverture. Halloween can be everyday after a shower. This towel could also be a way to combat any fears of scary shower scenes!

Train Journey in Fall

25 Oct

I was visiting my family in lovely Western Massachusetts this weekend. The leaves were at their peak of vibrant color and the air was that perfect temperature where you can wear a sweater and a woolly hat but no coat. The train journey back to New York was a soft and fuzzy blur of colors- it was so pretty and I was so content that my heart felt like melting.

Creepy Cocktails and Other Ghoulish Delights

21 Oct

Following Sarah’s post about Suspiria, I thought about a Halloween film marathon night I had a couple of years back. We had a bit of a party and offered some ghoulish treats. It was not of this calibre and I am gutted I did not have these recipes back then. For this reason, I am keen to host a  horrorfest this year and serve these creepy canapes and cocktails!
